Hi I just noticed my car is making a weird noise

The CV joint on the left is soon to be broken, I’m bringing it in the shop tomorrow but I noticed my engine is making a weird noise what could it be ?

Sounds to me like a vacuum leak - check the fuel trims to see if it’s anything major.

If it’s the intake manifold, and not just a line or a gasket - I’d try to find one used one.

What you saw in the video under the hood is pretty much only the air intake, the rest of the engine is much further away.

The only other thing I hear is valve train noises that to me sound alright and a slightly uneven idle but that’s also within what I’d consider normal.

Hi Dan! Thanks for your comment I appreciate it, I may be paranoid but I feel like my valve train is louder than before, I may be wrong if it is, what could go wrong?
Thanks

Well I checked and on Mercedes Benz forums owners of this model say this is just the way it sounds

But just to be sure, the first thing you do when you're concerned about engine noises is check the oil.
But other then that, it's a SOHC with hydraulic tappets and no VVT - these kinds of noises are usually nothing to worry about.

In general, if you want a really detailed tour, teardown and information on common faults:

Thanks Dan, really appreciate the help here. What a weird engine placement ahah

Yeah Mercedes had a thing for installing engines in a weird manner at the time, especially in small cars
