Hello Scotty, love your videos!
So I currently drive a 2010 Honda Civic with 96,000+ km and 5-Speed Manual Transmission. I've recently had two instances (3 weeks from each other) where the car comes out of gear back into netural. Basically as I reverse from my driveway its slighty downhill and the moment my tyres settle on the road I cannot reverse and didn't realise that my car 'popped' from reverse into netural until my left foot was in the air and no where near the clutch, I do not know whats going on. Thank you for your support!
It is popping out of gear because your reverse gear synchros are worn out. The only way to fix it is to rebuild the trans with new seals and synchros.
Any signs to this besides it popping out of gear? I don't hear or feel anything strange.
No. Your transmission needs a rebuild.
Here is your problem; the synchros for the reverse gear are worn out to the extent that when you put it in reverse, it's not going all the way into reverse because of the wear on the synchros. It will then pop out of gear.
