Hi Scotty welcome home, I was wondering is it worth while fixing the head gasket on a 2012 subaru forester, Its my sons car . Its not a bad car otherwise. but several people have told me its a waste of time and will just become a money pit. what do you think ? And would it be something that should go to a dealer or can a mechanic fix it ? Thanks Ed
What engine, how many miles?

If in good shape otherwise and you can do the work yourself, why not? If you have to pay a mechanic, no way. (The gaskets are cheap. Cost in a shop would be $$$$ and that's mostly labor.)
