Yes please do!
Thanks for the welcome! In one of Scotty's recent videos, he asked for people who would be interested in volunteering to moderate the forum reach out. I have several years experience moderating the gencoupe.com forum in the early 2010s and have helped to start, moderate, run, and grow numerous Facebook Groups from a couple of members to thousands (under my name, BKSeoul, and WildBill). I love the idea of this site being a one stop shop to ask and get community feedback as well as act as a long term repository for those in the future looking for answers. I would be happy to help moderate if you are still interested in getting some help with the forum. Just let me know.
@wildbill
This is very nice of you Bro.
Yeah, i was here because of that Mr. Scotty invitation and to check his website again.
Looking forward in this website to grow.
@wildbill
Thank Bill. Hope we see more of you around.
@aliashraf
Depends on the mileage the temperature around and if the “ Cold start noise” goes away when warmed up.
Cool to see Scotty has a site up again.
However, I posted a question and clicked subscribe so I'd get emails and the site gives me an error message about "Can't send confirmation email". I setup my account with an @comcast.net address. Then I changed my email to a @gmail.com address and still get the same error.
@olds97_lss
yes we are working on the email issues, what we were using got overloaded so we're working on a new fix coming tomorrow, thanks!
Thanks for letting me know. I'll check back later then try and subscribe to my question.
Actually, just tried and it appears to have worked! Now I just need to see if I get an email when someone replies to it.
Hello Scotty! It's Allan Adamson from Youtube. I would like to be a moderator. You might remember me, I worked at an auto dealership as a finance manager and wrote their business plan. I also still buy cars at auction on a regular basis. I also have experience working on cars and rebuilt my first engine with my grandfather when I was just a kid. I have experience on forums since the 90's and I have an MBA from Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
- How to be a moderator? Just watched the new video, looking to help others with car issues like you have for years.
@carnagecity
Admins watch and choose moderators. They pick those who contribute the most.
@carkillerappHi there My name is Norm age 61 been a car guy all my life been watching your channel and look forward to seeing your tips. I would be interested in helping out as an administrator would be fun. Enjoy your new location Cheers
Great site! Captcha seems to be a bit out of control though. I just had to click through a pretty large number of challenges; fire hydrants, buses, chimneys, bicycles, stairs, traffic lights, etc., to log in.
@chucktobias
Captcha can be iffy depending on your browser. I had to do some testing for Captcha at work for some functionality we added to one of our sites, some browsers did fine but one (I think it was Chrome) went absolutely crazy.
It seems to be really random. Sometimes I get lucky and get in with just a single challenge, other times I have to spend a seemingly endless time clicking on crazy captcha challenges until my index finger gets sore, sometimes while squinting at grainy, low-res pictures of buses and fire hydrants, etc., that are really tough for these old eyes to deal with. I haven't seen this on any other forum I've participated in. (I've tried with both Firefox and Chromium and there doesn't appear to be any pattern.)
@carkillerapp
Hello Scotty. I'm Daniel Alpert. I've worked for the last 13 years as a Walmart Auto Care Technician. First off, I am not a mechanic, but I have acquired considerable knowledge on general vehicle service and maintenance. I can answer questions like what oil a customer should use in their vehicle, atf fluid/gear lube, I can suggest tires and tire pressure, a lot of general, non mechanic questions users may have. I'm sure you will have an excellent selection of real mechanics as moderators for the really in-depth vehicle issues, but if you think there is a need for this type of moderating, then I'd be honored to be considered as a general questions moderator.
Thank you for your attention Scotty, I've been a fan of your channel for a long time now.
Sincerely, Daniel Alpert.
Hey all my name is Jason I've been working on vehicles since I was 13 im now 37, I also have my own youtube channel also where I post videos on vehicles I work on and the common problems I find, I have a good video on dodge durango regarding there ecu failures. I also post videos about my gambler 500 adventures with my off-road minivan (1993 plymouth AWD) I know worst transmission known to man but it still keeps going. I always help people with thier vehicles also no matter the problem they have. I used to work for a few repair shops so I have knowledge on most makes and models. If you consider me for a moderator I would have no problem answering questions.
@carkillerapp
Congratulations on your move, your new website, your well earned success! You've earned it and I've become a loyal fan of your YouTube channel. Down to earth honesty about all things cars.
Hello there!
I'd like to be a moderator too. I like to help others, I hate being ripped off, just like Scotty. He answered my question in a live car talk too. I also moderated a forum years ago.
I notice people often ask Scotty similar or same questions and I learn from his answers too.
P.S.: a challenge for you guys, even for you Scotty. Do you guess what car is in my profile picture?
Yesterday i registered by the name MacAmb and i still haven't received activation email yet tried many times resend email it didn't work.now when i try to register again with the same email it says the email is already in use.
So please i would like to use my other one not this one thanks
Neither I did receive any confirmation email. Perhaps it's not needed.
Hello, Scotty. I'd say that since I spend too much time watching your videos as it is, I might as well do something constructive and help out by being a volunteer moderator for your new forum while I'm at it!
I work at a tier 1 automotive interior company in Detroit. We're currently making many interior parts, mostly for the US-made Japanese companies. Due to the nature of the job, every month someone shows up with a new car and a new $400 car payment. Not me! 1998 Camry with 370,000 miles. It's going to be replaced with a 2010-11 soon, however. I also have a 20 year old F-150.
I've moderated a forum before. The landing page is still there, but the forum has been dissolved. It was a very niche topic, but very deep. I'm sad it's gone. And, you said you wanted a resume. I literally have a degree in writing. I've never done anything with it though. Heck, after college I moved to Japan for a few years! Thus the foot-in-the-door at my current job.
Anyway, I'd love to help out with the forum. Thanks!
@carkillerapp
Scotty, thank you for affording the chance to use your new community channel. Your Youtube channel and videos are full of awesome advice with a funny twist. Keep it up and thanks for your devoted efforts in keeping us educated and informed. Congratulations on your successful channels and your recent move to Tennessee. "HOOP"
@carkillerapp
Hey Scotty, I am from Canada, and I think you need somebody from Canada to be on your Moderator list. I know about cars been working on cars since past 15 years. I have my own garage like you and should be able to answer questions for the Canadians on your forum.
@carkillerapp
My name is Ayden, and I'm an aspiring Cybersecurity/Digital Forensics professional. I'm currently in school and have been playing Alto Saxophone for six years now and I am also teaching myself to play piano as well. I have a basic foundation in the understanding in the automative industry and vehicles themselves and can answer basic level questions. I have experience moderating games and groups and I am currently certified in Cisco Packet Tracer Basics as well as Y1 Cybersecurity Essentials. I'm moving on to earning national level certifications for Cybersecurity and getting training that is similar to on the job training. My classes have taught me a lot about how to protect companies and keep personal data secure and the way companies should be running in the technical field. English being my primary and most fluent language, I have top-notch grammatical skills and a WPM count on average of 70 WPM. My main goal in moderating your server is to not only answer basic questions with the best of my ability, referring members to your reliable information, but also to heavily enforce the rules you have stated and to keep the questions on-topic and appropriate. I hope you would find me a good addition to your team and I am thankful to be given this opportunity.
Sincerely, Ayden (Readywolf)
@carkillerapp
Hey Scotty and @carkillerapp! Much love from WA state, we love your videos! Nice website too!
Hello Scotty,
I’m Hamza Farmawi and I would like to help being a moderator.
I live in Jordan and I work as a Business Analyst, collecting classic cars and fixing them is one of our family hobbies, we grow up learning about cars, fixing, taking apart parts that we need from scrapyards and helping our friends fixing their cars.
I learned driving on a 1982 BMW e28 and I drove it for 10 years facing and fixing my own problems with it, we own 13 classic cars and lately we finished restoring our latest 1969 Datsun 1600 fairlady.
I would like to be a moderator and try to help as many people as possible with my humble experience in cars.
thank you for your hard work and information you give.
Hello in advance Hamza Farmawi; you might end up working business development along side my possible future role as CIO for Scotty when this takes off.
That would be exciting!
Would be great to be a part of developing this application and more.
Thank you
Hola ladies and gentlemen and have a good one!!
Dank je Scotty from Europe. Well done 🙂
Howdy Scottie This is great idea and I'm glad to be here with you Dude, and all the rest of the motor and gear heads in are big dirty Garage
Hey Readywolf, follow my posts below by doing a search for psystemupdate; im hoping to push this forum to the forefront of the web and become CIO of the obvious company that will form from this. There's real potential here because most other automotive forums have crashed or turned into junk due to the bloatware that they were built with and I've already told Scotty that he shouldn't do this with wordpress; he needs to go big or go home. If Scotty does this correctly and becomes the defacto go-to automotive forum on the internet, he'll be able to do amazing things such as copy the auto diagnostic software used by the medical industry which diagnoses what health problem you may have based on the symptoms you input. I could use a cybersecurity expert if this ends up being a successful venture. Just so Scotty knows, I study AI, exotic technology, software engineering, and at this point will be getting into contract law for things like EULA's (end user license agreements), SLA's (service level agreements), and articles of organization. I understand that if Scotty decides to become the defacto go-to automotive forum, then his technology will definitely be under attack and could definitely benefit from a cybersecurity expert.
hey scotty you gotta be careful of internet laws; at this moment you are liable and should be protecting yourself with a legal entity. The European union can fine you $20 million for non compliance with GDPR.
https://termly.io/resources/articles/gdpr-in-the-us/
you need to know your stuff to operate on the internet. I think the gist of it is that if you have a website and someone from europe views your website, then you have to comply with the GDPR or can be fined 20 million euros, yes it applies to Americans too i think. Operating on the web can put your business at risk. I know you probably pay taxes and so probably already have a company in america, probably an LLC, but you don't want all your eggs in one basket. This website should operate within its own legal entity for liability purposes and you should probably form a holdings company to control your other companies. You already make good money doing good for people but there are Automotive companies who will attack you if you give them any opening.
Hello Scotty from England! (Old England) big fan of your channels, you've helped me out more times than I can count, hope the website is as much of a success.
Hope you're settling into to life in Tenesse ok!
I own a Mercedes CLK500 (I know, I know) I wanted a V8 and it was £750 so I cant complain, I may be asking you some questions on rear suspension on mercs pretty soon, I swear the guy that put this thing together at the factory must have been 2D with the working room you have!
@carkillerapp
when can we message other users with car questions? will that be enabled?
Hi Scotty, I have a 1999 Toyota Avalon with 285k miles still running strong 💪🏽. I noticed when I’m on the freeway going anywhere over 60+ mph my temperature gauge will read towards the cold side. I only notice this when the a/c is not running. With the a/c on it will be in the normal range, stays in the middle. This only happens when I’m on the freeway without using the a/c. When I’m in town in stop and go traffic it reads normal (gauge will stay in the middle) with the a/c on or off. Is this normal?
@danny445
You have been gifted what many of us strive to achieve! JK, cars these days need to stay within their operating range. My thought on this is your thermostat is letting a bit of coolant to bypass it and thus keeping the car a little cooler. That would be what I would do first, put in new oem thermostat (oem or known quality one...no cheap clones!)
Hello Scotty, My Uncle recently reccomended me a 2009 Toyota Camry with 87,000 with new Engine and transmission. Is it a big deal for a toyota if it has a new engine and transmission?
Greetings Scotty, your majesty..
Your website got shutdown, and you were forced to move.. You got shut-down, targeted, attacked, for telling too much truth.. same as I did.. It's the vampire alien invader lizards in the politicians and authorities doing the evil.. I saw two of them in their lizard form with-their shields down.. I saw two 6-foot tall 12-foot lizards resembling small T.Rex's, with iguana lips.. I got a good audio video recording of two of them chatting in their small car in their alien lizard dialect of: pops, clicks, whines, grunts, growls, hisses, froggie and lizard sounds... They are in many of the world’s leaders.. They are eating our babies.. They are making cannibal subterranean towns and cities and cannibal restaurants..They are in process of devolving humanity with dangerous vaccines and drugs into numb mindless idiots to make us into their food source uncontested.. They are led by the evil homosexual jesuit lizards from planet 'jesuit' who see human semen as caviar, and our babies as toys and veal...
I love your videos sir, you are a Master...
The lizards stopped my sciences.. I have the sciences to make humanity populate this whole universe, and live forever disease free.. I have the sciences to restore this planet’s life support systems, and build weather controls, and build liquid light engines to make space travel safe, cheap, and easy... I am the one who first coined the phrase 'flying cars' and 'moon-capable rv's'.. I have the liquid electricity engines to make flying cars a reality... The lizards don’t want that... They attacked me like they attacked you... 49 murder attempts on my life, and counting.. I toy with my would be assassins... The last one was a blond skank with her mongoloid pet, both wearing 1960’s trench-coats, in summer yet.. I got good audio video of them on the front porch, the blond leaning over her mongoloid-pet, asking ‘are you ready?.. I watched them from the corner of the front window.. The mongoloid female snapped her hand in her trench coat pocket, showing the tight bulge in her pocket of a small pistol with stubby suppressor attached.. I scanned them.. Their MO was ‘the mongoloid does a stomach shot.. The blond shoves the victim backwards.. The mongoloid does a headshot.. They taste the victim's blood, then do the happy dance.. They steal a few things, make a little mess, then leave’.. The lawyer says just the video is enough to convict them of attempted murder.. The assassin before them was a fellow who called himself ‘the old king’.. I published that I got a good video of him following my truck.. Two months later his handlers murdered him and his family just in case this got to court and he got squeezed for all the murders he did for them.. They killed their own mechanic just in case.. If you are exposing the world’s evils, don’t answer the front door if it’s someone you don’t know... I solved spirit time-travel, the universe, and the afterlife.. I’m a sorcerer.. They Can’t kill me, and if they did, my spirit is already in the afterlife, and then I can kill them.. I’m immortal and truth.. I can do all the things their precious jesus supposedly could do, and much more.. I tried to teach it to humanity, but the lizards don’t want humanity to know any of it.. The lizards have all the money, power, and guns, and are insane.. The lizards make and enforce the laws... The lizards targeted you and me bro, like they target and crush all awareness, intellect, science, truth, honesty, life, love, and reality.. The lizards are our ‘hell on earth’...
The doodoo is so gonna hit the big fan.. Your best option is to gather up a few groups of survivalist preppers, and resurrect a small ghost town, and make your own self-sustaining loving honest surrounding ranching and farming community like they had in the wild west days.. You’re a master, you can do anything and everything...
@carkillerapp
