I purchased my car from a donations dealership. I have 2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4L FI DOHC 4cyl with 285048 miles. I am have to put in 1qt of oil every 400-500 miles. I realize this is an old engine with a lot of miles but I am concerned about a bigger issue than an old engine. I have the oil changes every 4000 miles. I purchase full synthetic oil for every oil change.
Check your PCV valve and hope that it is the problem. If so, simply replacing it could stop, or reduce the oil consumption. Otherwise it could be the engine is just worn out.
Your car is worn out. Main causes of oil consumption are high oil pressure, worn out piston rings and gaskets. Have a wet/dry compression test done on the engine. You're going to need to replace the motor sooner than later with that much mileage.
