It it worth to get a 1500 with this powertrain? Or got to the 2500 GM truck and suffer with much poorer gas mileage?
The only decent GM trucks nowadays are the heavy duty trucks; in this case I would bypass the 1500 and go straight to the 2500HD with the Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 mated to the Allison 10-speed. Keep in mind the rest of the vehicle especially the electronics are typical GM, and also down the line repairs on high tech diesels can be very expensive.
For a work truck yes upgrade.
GM is being sued for the awful 10-speed
It’s still a little early to see projected reliability of this engine, although there are some good reviews on this engine because of how smooth it is. Still, I’d probably get the Duramax V8 with the Allison automatic.
Definitely go for the 2500. Much better truck.
