Hi Scotty community im happy to be here i am currently looking at an 2022 aura mdx or a Lexus rx 350 wich one is more reliable and will cost less to maintain ?
You can test drive both and see which one you like better. The Acura has more sporty ride and Lexus offers you a more cushy ride.
They are both great cars but the Acura MDX has VCM (Cylinder deactivation), which is not beneficial if you want to keep the car for a long time. You can deactivate it but it may affect your powertrain warraty.
If you care about reliability (especially long term), the Lexus RX350 has the edge.
Both are expected to be relatively reliable taking the whole market into consideration. The edge goes to the Lexus because of NO VCM and NO timing belt (they use timing chains.). Timing belts require maintenance every 100,000-150,000 miles.
Personally I like the offering of the MDX overall in style, performance, and reliability. So even though the edge goes to Lexus on lower cost of maintenance; I’d go MDX.
