I got a 70k mile nissan skyline GTS-T M manual turbo model.
When I got it, had a airbox without the vent. I put it the vent back on it can now go 7100 before the limiter sets in.
The rpms seem accurate except it seems it could be off a tad at redline.
I definately don't want to do a Bee-r rev limiter that cuts the ignition and explodes fuel.

If you have a scan tool, try driving it and check the live data to see what it shows for max rpm. If it's so close you aren't even sure it has an issue, I'd leave it alone myself.
I have no OBD1 scan tool, and these old ROMs are extremely hard to access
