Scotty,

I have a 2011 Ford Taurus SEL bought new. I have replaced the battery twice since the factory original gave up the ghost.

The two IA Key Fobs for the "push start" ignition will not retain their programming. This is the first time this has happened.

All accessories work when either key fob is placed in the center console - engine starts and can be driven. The only issue is not able to use either key fob to lock or unlock the doors.

Would disconnecting the battery cables for maybe 30 minutes and reconnecting reestablish communication between the key fobs and the system?

Thanks.

I don't think a battery reset will do the trick. It could do more harm than good.

Check your manual for the reset procedure as mentioned by @rth3rth3.

That is a very complex system. I would start by checking the owners manual for a key fob relearn procedure first. Good luck.
