For starters, don't do this:

A car bomb

That's definitely a possibility xD
But aren't all cars bombs given the right variables ?

Turn off your car before you put gas in the tank. The fuel pump is electric and a random short or spark in the fuel pump or other system components could ignite the fumes in the tank and come back up, out of the filler neck. Gas fumes burn and explode, liquid gas does not. Discharge static electricity onto the car body away from the fuel door before you touch the fuel door or the gas pump nozzle. Don't get back in your car because it's cold. It takes 5 minutes to fill up, dress for it. I agree with Old Guys Rule, this doesn't look like it was a fuel explosion. There was next to no flash fire as happens with a gasoline fire and it literally blew apart the rear end of the car. It looks more like some kind of bomb was detonated.

Yes, there's no arguing that.

In the video I see a small but extremely violent explosion with no visible fuel fire before or after the blast, remarkably. That's why I think it was an explosive device. Do you have more information on where it was?

Indeed and generally when a car does catch fire you should have a couple of good minutes before the vehicle explodes.
I couldn't find an article on the video but judging by the front license plate it seems that it is either in Iraq or Iran.
The explosion seems to have originated from the trunk, so maybe they were carrying some sort of compressed and flammable can ?

It looks like it could be the Middle East, That's why I asked. This is what I would expect to see if gasoline was involved.

Maybe he was a really bad bomb maker on his way to a job.

That had to have been some type of military grade explosives used (a small amount).  It tore the metal apart like paper.

There was zero fire or flame that I could see going frame by frame, so I don't believe the explosion was fossil fuel related.

That was in Iran based on the license plate. The issue there is people either store fuel containers in the trunk or some people make their cars CNG compatible but aftermarket which is never done properly. And the CNG tanks are placed in the trunk and there have been multiple incidents of those CNG tanks exploding.

was it a natural gas refueling station?
