What could be causing this clicking sound while my car is off?

Hi Scotty,

I walked out to my truck tonight and noticed a clicking sound coming from my the vehicle . I tried opening the truck and the electric locks weren’t working. Popped the hood and it seems like the noise is coming from the fuse box. Tried turning the car on and got nothing. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? The vehicle is a 01 4Runner and it has a month old battery and alternator in it currently.

Check for a bad relay/s.

I agree on the relays - you might want to get  mechanic's stethoscope ( or use a long screwdriver held blunt end to ear, pointy end to relays, one by one - or other things that might be clicking)

Relays will often click when under powered and if you went to start it and had no power the battery is most likely the cause of the relay clicking. Then it would be figuring out what drained the battery to that point. But I’d be willing to bet if you put jumper cables or box to it the clicking would stop
