What could be the problem with my transmission?

Hello Scotty,

I recently purchased a used 2005 Volkswagen Jetta with a automatic transmission. It has 130k miles, when I test drove it It felt normal. After a while on my way home I felt harsh shifts when accelerating and decelerating. It also felt like the transmission is slipping. It doesn't happen always but it does happen. Also, when changing gears from reverse to drive simultaneously I feel a really hard jolt. It does have a check engine light with the following codes:

P0691: Fan 1 control circuit low

P2088: camshaft position control

P0030: HO25 heater control cricut bank 1 sensor 1

P0458: EVAP system purge control solenoid low

I deleted all the codes and drove it. But unfortunately I still was feeling the harshness when shifting.

I took it to three different shops. First shop was a transmission shop. They said it could be the valve body  within the transmission. But wasn't sure. They qoated me for $500 just to take apart the transmission and see what it could be.

Second shop said it's related to the codes. That's what's making the transmission behave this way. And suggested to get the codes fixed.

Third shop wasn't sure and suggested to take it to dealer to get an answer.

What do you think could be the problem scotty. Please help.

Thank you!

The tranny is going out.

Get rid of it ASAP.
