what do you think of a Pontiac Montana 2004 are they a good first car

Definitely not.
I would not purchase one as they were known to fall apart with age.

1st generation of the Pontiac Montana covered model years 1997-2004, and had issues (see below). I would pass on it, especially if intended as a daily driver.
