Hey Scotty,
I am interested in purchasing a used Toyota Sequoia, but I want to know what your thoughts are on the matter. I am leaning toward a 1st gen 05-07 because they have solid rear axles like the 4Runners and those years have VVTI with increased power and a 5 speed vs the 4 speed. My main concern is that the older they get the harder parts may be to find. Should I just get a newer 2nd gen or get the 1st gen with that legendary 4.7?
Well they all are pretty well made in the old 4.7s can run forever. Of course depends how worn out the vehicles are, but if you like the solid axle I would get one of the last models that they made of those
There are still a ton of them around because they are so reliable, and they ride quite well too.
Toyota likes to use the same reliable parts in a bunch of different vehicles. As you mentioned, 4Runner, but also ones like the GX470, LX470, Land cruiser, Tundra, and probably some I forgot, all use a lot of the same parts. This means that aftermarket parts are easy to find.
The only bad thing about a sequoia, is it gets pretty bad gas mileage.
