Hi Scotty,

This is about my 2011 RAV4 Auto 2.4L with 264 000kms. I have been doing some basic maintenance of my car for last 2-3 years. Mainly I have done oil change, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs like basic replacements of my car. Recently I took the car to a mechanic as I wanted to sell the car. he pointed out following issues

-Front sway bar links damaged

-Right hand socker ( I am not sure what it is) leaking

-Rear enforcement bar bent

He recommends replacing all the above +some minor things.

Have I been driving my car with above issues and was it unsafe? How can properly maintain my car ? Is it possible for DIyer to maintain a car to proper standard? how can I improve my knowledge /where can  get it?

Thanks

Don't replace anything. For a 2011 car the suspension looks fairly normal judging by your pictures. Aside from a worn bushing (last picture) and a possible leaky strut, seems to be in fairly good shape. I'm not on the ground but I question your mechanics motives, especially if he knows you're selling it.

Hey you're selling the car. For runs and goes okay. You just sell it as is. Do not put money into a car you are selling. If it runs fine for you. Doesn't make any noises travel's on the highway smoothly and doesn't pull to one side or the other. You sell it as is. No one ever recoups repair money when they're selling the car unless the car doesn't run right and you repair it so it does run right?
