I was having my Valve cover gaskets replaced on my 1986 Oldsmobile Cutless and my mechanic noticed my pipe was rusting away. I went ahead and had him replace it but what is it for? He said it was in really bad shape, I've been driving it for 3 months after reviving the car like that.
