Hey Scotty,
A friend of mine has a 2007 Chevy Equinox V6 automatic with roughly 250,000 miles. It makes a single mild clunk sound when turning which sounds like the driver front. She also said sometimes the whole car gets a shimmy that makes her feel like she is driving drunk. I jacked up both front wheels and checked for play in the ball joints and tie rods; everything seems fine. We are not sure what to try. Thanks, your awesome.
You need to check ALL parts in the front suspension for looseness, not just ball joints and tie rod ends. There's undoubtedly at least one worn bushing in there.
Check sway bar LINK joints. If this is a unibody car, the sound may be coming from the front but the bad joint could actually be one or more of the rear and front joints.
