My 2005 V8 Toyota 4Runner is constantly grinding and adjusting its braking system. Our mechanic has mentioned that the complete ABS system needs to be replaced and he says he can possibly do it for $3k and Dealer wants $6k. Mechanic says car is safe to drive but I will eventually notice that it will be harder to brake/slower to stop. That sounds unsettling! Car has 160k miles. It’s runs well despite the noise. The grinding noise is very loud. Always happens when I start to slow down at a stopping point. I have video clip of sound it makes. What would be your recommendation on this car? Should I fix and continue driving it or sell the car?
This doesn’t seem to be a common issue as I can’t find others with similar problems. Thank you in advance for your help!
Your car does not have too many miles on it. If I were you, I would get another opinion on what exactly is wrong. Is it the module, the sensors,...
Thank you. I will seek another opinion. I already paid dealer $150 to inquire on issue. I have to dig up that paperwork to see exactly what they said.
