My neighbor´s Chevy Aveo ´10 has been sitting since March ´21. He emptied the gas tank, put new gas in, bought new tires, cleaned the interior, changed the coolant, oil and filter. It´s his wife´s car, they bought it from the second owner about 5 years ago. Now that she is driving it, she says it hesitates when she needs it to pick up speed as if the gas pedal didn´t work. Highway speeds no problem. It´s just that the car is reluctant to accelerate fast from second and third gear.
1.6 4-cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission, 73 557 miles, original.
Have you checked for any codes?
Just scanned it. No codes.
Have it tuned up and check if it still does it.

When downshifting?
Let's say the car the car is in second or third gear when merging into traffic about to enter the highway. That's when it cannot pick up speed.
Did you change out the transmission fluid and filter?
No, that wasn't done. Should we change it since it's a stick?
Sorry, didn't see it was a manual. Not a transmission problem. At the very least, I'd be looking at new spark plugs and a new fuel filter especially.
