Are they anywhere near as reliable as Toyota and Honda? Or, more like Nissan.
They are racing with Nissan for whose car gets mechanically totalled first.
And Fiat/Chrysler/Peugeot, as well!
Do a search for Hyundai on this forum and you will see we’ve covered this topic before. But they are very bad and best to avoid them, and certainly not wise to own one out of warranty.
On a daily basis we get members with issues on their Hyundai/Kia products (usually 2010 MY or later).
Here's my honest thoughts on Hyundai:
1. I would buy an Alfa Romeo before I bought one
2. I would buy a Jaguar before i bought one
3. I would buy a Land Rover before i bought one
Charmin toilet paper holds up better than a Hyundai/Kia.
Historically? No. Toyota has had much better reliability. But there are anomalies. Not every Toyota lasts forever, and not every Hyundai falls apart.
I personally would never buy a Hyundai because of their poor reputation, bad reliability, and ugly styling. But at the end of the day, not everyone can afford a Toyota.
I would much sooner buy a Ford than a Hyundai if I was looking for a cheaper car.
Kimchi is better built than Hyundai
I would even buy a Nissan before a Hyundai.
