Hi, first of all thank you for making videos, I do follow them since is valuable information.
I got a BMW 635D model 2009, with 140.000 miles, is a inline 6 twin turbo engine. I know the car since new since it belong to my boss and I know he serviced the oil in time because I was the one who took it for service. Now since I took it to the dealership i know they change it because I always pull the dip stick to check and also made sure they also serviced gear box and rest of things.
In the UK 140.000 miles on a bmw is a lot, so I bought this very very cheap, I payed 3 grand. And yes i know you always say not to buy high mileage bmw, endless money pit story.... but it was very well looked after and not abused, so i gamble.
I want to ask you about the oil, I did lots of research to find out right oil for this car. Manual says 5w30 BMW LL-04.
I decided to go for , as in your video about oil is made from gas and seem the be best I can get here. Should I get the 5w40 instead ? A lot of people say as mileage go up you should put thicker oil. And 5w40 is a bit thicker. How ever I think that is not ok as it will not flow as fast to lubricate the engine. I spend a few days reading about this and I am going mad... please help.
Stick to the manufacturer's recommendation.
With those, always stick to whatever is the manufacturer's recommendation and that will do just fine.
5w30 it is , placed order for oil and filters.
Dealership changed every 10.000 miles.
I ll change once a year since i only drive it in the weekends a bit so not even getting close to 5k miles
