[Solved] What should I buy? I'm from the upper pennisula, Michigan.

The two options are a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer LT. 4.2L Vortec with 90,700 miles.  Standard transmission, 6 cylinders.- $6,500

2004 jeep Grand Cherokee $3,900.  8 Cylinders, 4 wheel drive, 168,000 miles, standard transmission, older tires and need to be filled often, heat doesn't work on passenger side(blows cold air).  A/C hasn't worked (might need a refill).

What will last longer.  Im not a car guy so I dont know how to do repairs.  Just want a good starter vehicle to last about 4 years.  I want to start learning how to do repairs, any tips on how to start?  Also these will have to apply to a Upper pennisula point of view. To last for the snowy season and summer.

That generation of Grand Cherokee was actually pretty well made. Back then they were very good SUVs and they last a long time. None of the Fiat Chrysler nonsence. I wouldn't pay that much though. Have a mechanic check it out and shoot for $2500.

As for the Chevy Trailblazer, I wouldn't spend my hard earned 7 grand on that lets be honest cheaply made SUV.

Alright sweet thanks for the answer. Is there any common problems with a grand cherokee. Also is it good for the winter.

I honestly don't know I don't have any ownership experience with them.
Here is what other owners say they had problems with:

It seems mostly electrical and interior parts fail with age. Powertrain wise they seem to be very reliable. You can look up Scotty's videos on them I remember he talked about it. Of course they are gas hogs so keep that in mind.

A pre-purchase mechanical inspection is well worth it would make sure that there aren't any problems.

Any older Jeep owners might be able to chime in and add some stuff as well maybe.

Sweet you are a life saver, thank you for your time.
