Hello everyone here.
Volkswagen Polo, 1.2 HTP, 47 kW, 2004, 186 650 km.
My mother´s car has been sitting for over a month. When I started it last week and drove it for about an hour and a half, I noticed that the engine tends to die often. It only does this while taking off from first gear. When I start it up again and drive the speed limit nothing seems to be going bad. However, if the car dies or when doing 130 km/h on the motorway, the red battery light comes on for about a second and disappears.
Should I buy a new battery or will the car stop doing this once it is "back on the road"?
I advised my mother to drive the car regularly, but she doesn´t listen.
Thank you for any advice.
Any car parts store can check the charging system, ie: battery, alternator, and starter.
take it to one of them and have it checked. If the battery is weak, have them drop one
in for you. Get one with the highest CCA, cold cranking amperage.....
If the battery light comes on at 130 kph then you have a bad alternator.
