Hi,

I am in the market for a used car and key points of consideration
-built after 2015
-preference Toyota, Honda, Maza, Nissan (?)
-Hatchback
-Good fuel economy (not necessarily Hybrid/ electric)
-budget 7000-8500
-Hope to keep this for 7-10 years
I noticed Nissan pulsar is very cheap but horror stories about CVT transmission failure
I am happy to hear your feedback to narrow down my search and cross out any models/variants I should avoid..
Is there any advantage of looking at manual gear cars (in terms of price/transmission issues)?
Thanks

I end up buying used prius 2009 with 240,000km in it for 5200-Have I done a good purchase?

We don't have magic crystal balls, here. Did you check out the car with a mechanic, or take it to him before purchase? If you didn't, you're taking pot luck on a 17-year-old hybrid that has been pretty well used.

Depends on how much life is left in the battery and complex electronics after 17 years, as well as the car's overall condition. Did you have a hybrid expert check it out before purchase?

@camry Well, hopefully it will work out OK for you. Scotty and most of us here generally caution against buying old hybrids but obviously there is no way we can know how any individual vehicle is going to hold up.

After about 3 days of purchase, I got some nasty warnings..

That indicator is known to Prius owners as "the red triangle of death". It indicates a potentially serious problem. (This is why Scotty and most of us here do not recommend buying an old hybrid vehicle.)

I would look in this order Toyota then Honda then Mazda. And I wouldn't look at anything else. A lot of people are looking for a car and at price range. It's going to be hard to find a good one at a good price that doesn't have really high mileage but stick to those three
