Scotty,

You’ve convinced me to buy a Toyota Highlander, I’m in the market. I live in the mountains so I’m looking for an AWD. Question: looking for a Highlander under 40,000 miles, which year Highlander is the best, or is there a worst?

Thanks for the great info,
David

2009-2014 is pretty good same goes with 2016+ but there are common problems for each year so check them out. I'd avoid 2008 and 2015 for sure.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll check it out!

You can’t really go wrong with a Highlander so good choice! Since you’re looking for one with under 40K miles, it’s probably going to be a newer one - try looking at the 2014-2019 model years. I would recommend you go for the V6 models and avoid the 4 cylinder ones. Toyotas V6 engines are great and you’re better off with that in a big family SUV.

I’ve been lurking here listening to some really good advice and I’m definitely going to take it. I’m finding Highlanders under 40k in the 24,000 dollar range which is where my wallet is happy. I read of some issues with a recall of 2018 Highlanders but otherwise like everyone here says they have a stellar record.
