I have a 2007 Land Cruiser (has 171k miles). When I press the accelerator after a complete stop the truck sometimes has a 1 second acceleration delay. After the delay the truck jerks forward and then I can drive it. What could that be?

what is the engine doing during that one second

Nothing unusual, the engine is running and there is no strange sounds. My foot presses on the accelerator and nothing happens for a second then the truck jerks forward happens.

Diesel or gas (petrol) ?

Gas and it has an automatic transmission.

have you changed the air filter lately?
The intake and throttle plate could be gunked up.
