I have a 2004 ford-f250 automatic and the truck has been shutting of randomly while in use and I dont know why.

Only two things spring right up.
Fuel problem or overheating.
Don't think it over heating but check your water temp.
Bring it to a good mechanic get them to look at it.

Does it shut off when while idling too?

Assuming it a gasoline engine...."fuel pump drive module" is failing.
Its located above the rear axle and subject to road salt destruction.
Its a plug and play replacement...be forewarned the screws that hold it in place will be badly corroded...aftermarket module is updated to not have a corrosion problem.
