What’s wrong with Toyota’s D4S engine

Is there anything wrong with the Toyota D4S engines? If so, what are they?

Clarification: D-4S refers to Toyota’s fuel injector system consisting of both port and direct injection, which has been used in many different engines in their vehicles. Are you asking about the reliability of just the port/direct injection system?

Yeah I meant that.

Regarding just the D-4S system, see below:

Reliability wise, … pretty good! Several failures registered by rental companies, however. In most cases, Toyota could not, squarely, blame it on drivers. In few cases, Toyota did. In all cases, Toyota thinks drivers are to blame, … but findings were not fully convincing, so warranty was applied.

Anyway, … if you, statistically, consider service of one engine - my own - it’s a resounding success. Just past 44,000 kilometres, the only bitches I have are: … loud and not that fuel efficient. Loud is because of direct injection fuel pump. Inefficient because it consumes more fuel per 100 kilometres than my Honda CRV. My Honda in 2010, … my RAV-4 is 2019, … both AWD. But this is jut my two rupees worth comment, …

F.S.
