When to change oil?

Hey Scotty/everyone, I have a 2013 Corolla S with 42k miles and I was wondering how often should I change the oil? I’m running 0W-20 synthetic and have been changing it about every 10 months since I drive less than 5k miles every year here in Hawaii. Toyota recommends changing it every 10k or 1 year, but I change it a bit earlier just because. Should I continue with the way I’m doing it? Thanks Scotty and everyone!

I would continue changing the oil as you do. Hawaii is hard on vehicles because it mostly city driving and the highways are short in duration.

You are doing fine as is:  it’s usually 1 year or every 5,000 miles whichever comes first.

I change it every 10 months because of a lot of stop and go traffic. Thanks!

That’s fine. You are doing better than the recommendation.

Thank you.

I would change it every 5 to 6 thousand.  If you don't drive that much than yearly.
