I have a 2019 mitsubishi outlander, i am the original owner and have only used full synthetic oil. My car now has 160K and was wondering if i need to swap to high milage oil? If it matters the miles are NOT highway miles I would say 50/50 I work two jobs so one job is highway miles and the other is delivering papers, lots of stop and go
Whatever it is you're doing, keep doing it, it apparently is working for your car, so why change. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
If its not leaking then I would keep using what you are using.
There's no compelling reason to change to high mileage oil. Although they are supposed to have seal conditioners that's mainly marketing, I would not count on them really doing anything. I have vehicles with over double the mileage of yours and don't use it.
Just stay on top of the engine oil change intervals with the existing oil (don’t forget the filter!). No reason to switch now.
I don't really think it matters if you use regular or high mileage oil. Per bottle advertising at the store, I believe Castrol advertises to use their high mileage mix starting at 70k miles. That's not "high mileage" on modern vehicles, in my opinion. That's hardly broken in with a Toyota or Honda. My girlfriend's EcoBoost Mustang has around 75k miles, I still use regular full synthetic. The high mileage bottles claim they slightly reduce gas mileage. I've never noticed a difference. I have 275k miles on my 1999 Ford Ranger, and I'll use either High Mileage or regular Pennzoil Platinum, depending on which is available at the time. Between the two, I've never noticed a difference in oil use. To Chuck's point, it all seems to mainly be a marketing ploy.
