With the current inflation of the dollars and manufacturers taking advantage of the situation to increase prices on everything, and the sudden jump of pre-owned vehicle prices, when do you think new car prices will increase?
As of now, the prices of new cars are still at a normal level compared to pre-owned ones. GM is shipping incomplete products to dealerships. God knows if GM buyers will have to pay extra to have headlights activated.
Car manufacturers will have to adjust their prices to accommodate with inflation in my opinion.
Don't give gm ideas
They probably already have thought about it {black}
Well actualy if they will be smart they will lower the price a little. So sales of new cars will skyrocket.
@mario1982 that wouldn't be smart because they can't keep up with demand. Sales have already skyrocketed. When you want to make money in a seller's market, you increase your price.
Has already happened. When I was shopping for a 2018-2021 Camry SE I saw everything from a ridiculous 35k total FOR NEW to 24k for used. Crazy. I eventually talked my way to a 2019 for 20k total, only 6k miles at the time. Also chip shortage. Cost of upkeep on things just sitting because cars nowadays are so jam-packed with computers, that some are just sitting around waiting for the right part. Mitsubishi and a few others had to shut shop for a bit due to this as well. Influx of buyers as well means that demand is higher than supply > can hike the prices both used and new.
Some dealers markup cars $10K over MSRP. Dealers are making the big profit. Not the manufacturer. I hate dealers.
Prices are always going up. I don't see that trend changing anytime soon.
We are in a bubble, and this situation is not sustainable especially once the production and supply chain all get sorted out; may still take some time, but bubble will eventually burst.
it could take a VERY long time. The bubble will just keep shifting somewhere else.
Transaction prices are going up even if sticker prices are not due to supply & demand.
you mean fees?
Fewer discounts, more bogus addons ($500 pinstripes, TruCoat, etc.), and "market adjustment" markups over sticker price.
