when purchasing any 4Runner, rust and head gasket failure are very important to look for. What are The best years for the 4th generation of Toyota 4Runner(2003-2009), V6, 4WD? And what model years should be avoided?

2008-2009 (the final 2 years of that generation) are the best and have the least propensity for head gasket failure and rust. The head gasket had been revised by then. Avoid 2003-2005: those seem to be the worst.
