Topic starter

2000 Mazda B2500 SX, automatic, 56,550 miles

This truck was owned by an elderly couple who drove it on average about 3,700 miles for the first 15 years.  After that, the truck remained in storage until this year 2025.  The engine and transmission oil was last changed in 2016.  Which type of engine and transmission oil is best to use in this situation?

For engine oil, Ford Motorcraft or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (both are 5w-30)?

For transmission oil, is following the 2000 Ford specifications best?

Any leading brand of oil that meets the manufacturer's requirements is fine.

Of course.

Do you know the engine oil maintenance history by the previous owners aside from the last time in 2016? You may consider using the Valvoline Restore and Protect. The ‘Motor Oil Geek’ Lake Speed Jr. has a video regarding the effectiveness of this oil to clean and restore especially the piston rings.
