I have the opportunity to get a 1996 Ford Ranger, 6 cyl. 160 K miles, auto trans, with a cap and extended cab or a 1999 Chevy S 10 , extended cab, 2.2 L 4 cyl, 90K, with a new fuel pump, new clutch, pressure plate. throw out bearing . Both for $2750.
Anything major to look for?
I'm leaning toward the S 10 with the manual.
Overal they are both pretty solid trucks and at that price you can't go wrong either way. 6 cyl Rangers do tend to be thirsty however.
Make sure they have clean titles. Have mechanic check them out before you buy.
I'd probably go with the S10.
If it's a rebuilt title, I'd get the Ranger. I would never buy a rebuilt/salvage title vehicle at any price point as they are worth scrap value and nothing more.
I would say the s-10 manual might be a fun little trick to bounce around with. Rangers are good too and I’ve known people who have driven them for a long time
The Ranger, don't buy rebuilt title cars & trucks.
