Hey Scotty, I’m 17 nearly going to get my first car! I’m thinking a Lexus sedan, but the question being: Are their any major differences between the IS GS ES or LS? Thinking of getting one of those, I’m up north so definitely going for AWD.

Yes there are. IS and GS are sportier models, ES is luxury and LS is flagship luxury.

Have you checked into the cost of maintenance/repairs, insurance, etc.? For a first car, why not go Camry? Mcluch cheaper to buy, maintain, repair, etc.

If you absolutely must go Lexus, go with the ES which is FWD and cheaper overall to maintain than the other three.  However, I strongly do not recommend a luxury car for a 17-year as a first vehicle due to the total cost of ownership (insurance, maintenance, repairs, tires, fuel, etc.) being higher.  Instead look at a Toyota Camry/Corolla (maybe an Avalon which is a ‘fancy Camry’ and slots just below the Lexus ES, if you must have luxury) or a Honda Accord/Civic.  Parts will be cheaper and readily available on those when something needs to be repaired.
