Hi guys
Lately when i opened the hood to fill up the windshield fluid reservoir and I’ve noticed the brake fluid hose is covered in something white.
Just click on the links to see the pictures of the actual hose
Is this something to worry about?

As mountainmanjoe said, just wipe it off. It looks to me like Dri-Lube. Regardless just wipe it off.
Question for the topic starter: What is that white stuff? Looks to me as residual salt. Salt that was strewn upon an icy/snowy road, … melted it - formed a salty slurry, and you were driving too close behind a car or truck that was flinging that slurry upon your car. Yes?

why would it be on that section of hose and nowhere else?
Well, I looked at pictures above, … it looks like there is this "white" dusty crust all over everything, … we get that all the time in winter when temperatures hoover just around freezing and it’s snowing and road crews spill road salt copiously. Slurry forms, wheels pick it up, spray gets everywhere, especially in engine compartment. When crappy weather is all over and that slurry dries out, … what’s in above pictures is what we get. That’s why I asked, … curiosity, no other reason.

I see that there's brown dirt/sand every else. Only the brake line has white paint like substance.
I just didn’t differentiate between the hose and surroundings, figured that it was all the same, just that that the hose was smudged by the owner. I’m blaming it on quality of the media - pictures. If the rest is just "dirt/sand", … then that what it is!!!
Anyway, … like I said, I was just curious, … and cat got killed!
