Hey Scotty I have a 2010 Accord 4cyl and I just went out to check the oil after sitting overnight. When I pull the dipstick out, the entire thing is covered in oil. When I wipe it down, put it back in, and pull it out again, the oil level is normal. Keep in mind, this has probably done this for a while since the metal dipstick has turned to a brown color rather than silver. What’s going on here??
That is perfectly normal. That's why you see mechanics wipe the entire dipstick then put it back in and pull it back out to check the oil level. As you drive the oil gets sprayed all over the place, which is why you let the car sit for a little before checking the oil level.

It will still be covered in some oil even if the car sat overnight. You always need to wipe down the dipstick before measuring the oil level. Not all the oil is going to fall back down into the oil pan.
If the oil level is fine AFTER you wipe down the dipstick, you shouldn't worry at all. Realize that the dipstick is inside the engine where oil is splashing around.
