Did you use cheap brakes? The house brand of really any auto parts store tend to squeak, especially with semi-metallics.
Aside from the quality of the pads, you probably didn't use any of this stuff:
Is this product a one time application?
Yes, it is applied to the back of the brake pads and is designed to prevent them from vibrating and making noise.

@imperator, I think the touchpad on this laptop may be a bit oversensitive to tapping, so an additional unwanted click is being generated inadvertently. I'll keep an eye on it. (I'll delete the duplicate above.)
