Why does my car shut off when my foot is on the brake, and it has shut off 2 times while driving

I have a 2001 buick century, about 158,000 miles. The first time i noticed it was probably 2 months ago where my foot is on the break and it shuts off so i have to put it in park and turn it off and turn it back on

You could be having a brake booster problem. The booster uses vacuum from the engine to help you engage the brakes with more force. When the booster or its vacuum hose is going bad, they can cause vacuum leaks that only show when the booster is in use, i.e. when you're braking. The vacuum leak kills the car by disrupting the air fuel mixtures in the cylinders with unmetered air.
