I recently bought a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman that I was told just needed a new O2 Sensor. I replaced the O2 sensor, spark plugs, air filter, & coils but the car continues to stall at every stop, it struggles to idle at first then stalls. When I try to accelerate it hesitates and jerks before actually accelerating. I get no engine codes and I don't know what else to do, any suggestions?
Sounds like a fuel problem.
I would check the fuel filter first to see if it is clogged. If that checks out, I would pressure test (or have a mechanic do it) the fuel pump to make sure the engine is getting the fuel it needs.
I would say odds are it is one of the two that are giving you this problem. Possibly both.
I'll have to check that out thank you. One question, once the car is moving there is no issue with it while driving once it gets going do you still think it could be a fuel issue?
I do. Remember when you are moving, you are pressing the gas down. So if something is clogged or not getting enough pressure at idle, you could still be ok if you are giving it enough gas by pressing the pedal. At idle is when you are having problems, and that's when you are not giving it any extra gas by pressing the pedal. IMO I would look into it.
Fuel issue is a strong possibility I would also check for intake leaks causing a lean condition. If it’s unmetered air coming in it could cause a similar problem
Vacuum leak would be my first choice.
