Hello Scott.
Ever worked on Suzuki vehicles? Why are they not popular in USA?
The three main reasons that Suzuki cars never really caught on in North America is the fact that they were a latecomer in the North American matket therefore the market was already saturated when they arived, poor marketing, and focusing their efforts on sueing Consumer Reports. It is too bad because they actually were good cars and they were a lot better than what people give them credit for.
I have a 2003 Chevy Tracker ( made by Suzuki in Canada) and it's one of the best vehicles I've ever owned.
They aren’t popular cause they are bankrupt in the u.s and a lot of there cars were pretty awful sweet! The forenza was daewoo and junk the sx4 were not terrible but not good either and the kizashi though not bad looking were not the greatest either. They all have there issues. The xl7 is an equinox and prone to timing chain stretching as well as electrical problems. So pretty much I would avoid any of them. For the most part they would run but the vehicles themselves just fall apart
