My truck runs and drives fine, but when I put it in park, it doesn't go, it just stays in reverse even though my shifter is in park. So I have to kill the truck in neutral, and start it, then put my shifter into park with the truck off to take out the key.
Parking paw in trans most likely. Any trans issues other than this? Recent driving events?
Get under the truck and ofc add some block on the wheels to stop it from rolling now on the driver side you will see the neutral switch and the shifter linkage pry the linkage off and move it towards the front of the vehicle and check if it has one more click if it clicks only one more time and it wont more anymore then there is a linkage issue if it doesn’t the parking pin broke if it clicks a bunch of times then you need to pull it towards the back of the car remove the blocks and check if its in parking
