I have A 2007 toyota camry Automatic the both catalytic converters is plug up I brought this car with 89,000 Miles and now it have 227,000 miles before the catalytic got clog. up I got 138,000 miles out of the car I have the 2.4 engine in it and it do burn oil but I keep it top off . the engine runs great and the transmission rungs great also I got the transmission services at 100,000 I want to get another two years out of her so I am buying the two cadillacs and two oxygen sensors also . I am paying $1100.00 for the parts and my Mechanic friend will charge me $400.00 to install. the question is do you think I will get at least 80,000 more miles from the car before my new cadillacs plug up again? I do my driving 90 % on the highway. I want to keep this car for another two years intial the car prices start going down. I know they had a recall on the engine but I was over the miles for A free; engine.the toyota dealer wanted $3000.00 bucks just on parts.

How much oil is it burning? Catalytic converters go bad/clog when they get a LOT of oil in the exhaust.

It should really be discouraged here, some of these posts are really difficult to understand. Have not run into it much on other forums.
They should be prohibited, not just discouraged.
Actually I'd agree with that but don't know if that would even be possible. Also we do get participants from overseas whose first language is not English and their posts might look much like these speech-to-text travesties.
How long the new catalytic converters will last depends on how much oil the engine is burning. If it's still burning oil at the same rate as when you bought the car 138,000 miles ago that suggests you'd get another 138K miles out of the new converters if they're OEM.
