Hello Scotty, I have a 2002 oldsmobile silhouette, 180,000 miles, automatic trans, 3400 V6. Parked the van 3 months ago, got in and she won't crank. Theft systems checks out, lights on the dash light up as they should, and disappear when I turn the key to crank as they should, but no noise whatsoever for cranking. Fuel pump primes each time, I checked every fuse, and relay as well as the sockets they plug into with a multi-meter. I had the battery checked, PCM works with scanner and no codes. I jumped the stater terminals and the starter works. So I turned the key to the run position and cranked the starter by jumping the terminals with a screwdriver, she won't run. Is there some signal that the PCM isn't getting to allow the engine to run, by me trying to start the car by jumping the starter? I know that the PCM has the ability to shut off the fuel injection after 3 seconds of if doesn't detect the key, is there some other signal that allows the PCM to shut off the injectors? I'm at a loss as to why I cannot get her to run.
Yeah it does have an antithub system. I would assume that's not working correctly because you jump the starter and it cranks but car will not start that way if the theftsystem is not allowing the car to start. And of course you could test the ignition switch. You bet ignition switch will do the same thing
Replace the ignition switch then...
