Worn engine?

Scotty help. I have a 99 ford ranger with 210,604 miles. I went out to start it made a ticking sound for 10 seconds. Later today I started again (7 hour between) and it didn't make that sound. I'm worried my engine is worn. Is it my rods Nocking?

Please don’t double post, thanks.

A light ticking sound is usually just worn or sticky valve lifters. Very common on high-mileage engines and not a serious problem.  (A rod knock is louder, deeper sound that increases with engine load and that is a serious problem.) Is there enough oil in the engine and when was the last time it was changed?

It would help if you could upload a video demonstrating the sound.
