Worst Gasoline Milage Issue after Ford Misfire P0303

Hi Scotty and Team,

A Barely Driven

Ford KA+      2016 Model     5,000Km ODO    Gasoline / Petrol

A Rodent Chewed Spark plug Ignition coil wire causes misfire and check engine light on DTC P0303. i was approx 3km away from home drove it back at 20km/h speed and parked it.

i replaced Spark plug Ignition wire with OEM then started the engine the check engine warning light went off automatically right after changing the cable

but to be of safer side i did a PCM Reset by disconnecting the battery.

after reconnecting the battery

took it for a spin for 20-30 minutes @30-40km/h speed

i noticed the car is consuming too much gasoline and ODO shows Per Liter Milege of 3 km starts from 18Km then 17 , 16 , 15 , 14 , ..... till 3 km / ltr

car ran out of Gas in just few minutes. as an average it's consuming gasoline like 1 liter in 3-4 minutes even when engine running idle no ac on.

means car was running TOO RICH

the fuel tank had Ford and BMW recommended Fuel additive mixed in it in correct quantity named iFtex System G 5th generation fuel additive so carbon deposit on injectors , valves and piston head would be low in my opinion.

but no stalling

no engine hesitation

no idling issue

no abnormal visible engine vibrations in engine compartment

no abnormal sounds

no black smoke

exhaust tail pipe was clean from inside

no gasoline leak on ground and in engine compartment

air filter all good

almost Correct engine 820 RPM as per OEM

but feeling some vibrations when car was parked with engine running on idle feels like engine is running on high idle RPMs check with scan tool show 10-15 RPMs high compared to OEM it was varying between 815-830 RPMs

took off the spark plug all 4 were having moisten black carbon deposit on them but the 1 that had damaged cable was extremely carbon deposited.

replaced them all with new OEM (i have them in spares and kept the old in spares after cleaning them all.) with correct gap checked with feeler gauge.

acceleration improved and per liter mileage increased by 1km now its 4km/ltr gas mileage.

Plugged in Forscan Tool

No DTCs found except P0303 savedn pcm as non active, i cleared it with scan tool too this time

KOEO no Error

KOER found P1116 DTC

Replaced Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor with OEM i didn't have the data to verify its working so i replaced it.

Checked Thermostat working by touching and feeling the Radiator Upper and Lower Radiator Hose seems like working fine

Radiator Fan working fine, after 10-15 minutes of cold ambient temperature running fans starts running.

Radiator fines all good not bent.

Coolant reservoir level between min and max mark all good but have 6years old Orange OEM Coolant having a replacement life of 5 years as per OEM.

Engine oil level between min and max mark all good.

correct grade engine oil recently replaced all good.

heater working fine means no air in coolant system.

ac working fine

checked with few local mechanics but they raise their hands when they see any modern western car brands especially Ford i'm left with Dealership after this post if unresolved.

what could be the issue there

no check engine light on the dash ,  no DTCs , didn't drove the car with bad ignition wire damaged DTC P0303 so didn't messed with O2 and MAP Sensors. i read some where the some models oif ford PCM needs flashing after misfire issue they have faulty software.

You shouldn't have disconnected the battery. Just keep driving and it will fix itself.

caculate your economy with the number on the pump and your odometer, not the computer.
