For a 16 year old getting a first car, I recommend a used Honda Civic with a manual.  Those other cars would be too much car starting out and also insurance would be higher (but of course the Subaru would be better than the Hyundai in terms of quality and lasting longer).

I would say to go with the WRX with a manual but those engines tend to blow. Also, have a mechanic check it with a scan tool because it could have been driven by a maniac and the engine and transmission are blown out. The Veloster has a limited life span.

WRX of the two, but a nice Civic Si would serve you better and be much cheaper on insurance and gas.

I'm with the others, a manual Civic would probably be best as a beginner car.

But if the choice is only between a WRX and a Veloster, WRX all the way.

At 16 your insurance will probably be sky high for the WRX and Velsoster N, I would look at that first.

Also, the WRX will hold its value tremendously and for any Hyundai, the resale value is awful

Also, in terms of learning how to use a manual, it will make little or no difference which one you chose, once you get the hang of it, its easy

Between the 2 the wrx.  Still not the best car for a 16 year old. You could get your in trouble,  and I  am sure the insurance would be high. Like others mentioned,  a civic or correla is the better way to go.
