1986-1988 Mazda 626 non-turbo muffler. The RockAuto website shows the Bosal 171-389 as the replacement part.
Baloney! You didn't do enough research to order the correct part.
Did you go to RockAuto and input the model year and part? Perhaps you can educate other on the steps that you would take to obtain the correct part?

That's why when I order from them, I call on the phone and explain EXACTLY what I have and what I need. Haven;t had any problems with them.
As a side note, always get the part with the little heart next to it. those are the best.
RockAuto has a phone number, but there is no one to answer the phone. When was the last time you called Rockauto. The voicemail said "we do not provide customer service by phone". They claim that's by design to save you $$$. Part number 6593 (with the heart) will not fit due to the location of the mounting rods.

I would contact Rockauto again and insist on a full refund with them paying for shipping and threaten to not do business with them again as well as report them to Better Business Bureau (BBB) and to Scotty Kilmer who has over 1 billion views (most of any automotive Youtube channel) and 4.5+ million followers, who will expose them. Be persistent and eventually they will refund you in full.

Their customer service is minimal to keep prices down. However, I have nothing but good things to say about Rockauto. I've been happily ordering hundreds of dollars worth of parts from them for over 5 years. I had a problem one time with a misprinted quantity. I used the claim process on their website and got my money refunded in a timely manner. I will keep recommending RA to everyone.
I ordered an air door actuator from them once. I found the part by entering my year, make, and model. The part looked right when I got it, but it didn't work after installation. After getting a replacement, I noticed that the pins in the plug were different from the OEM part I was replacing. I found that if I entered the part number on their site, it would give you the correct part, but the year/make/model search failed for this particular part.
I entered the Mazda's P/N but no hit. The OEM part is no longer available from Mazda.
