| Is there (proper) service history? If so, service frequently to prolong longevity. Live with roar or trade. Trans is gonna need rebuild tho soon... arguably not worth it. | |||||

| Korean cars have awful quality control. Beware of the troubles hiding underneath the skin. Always get a used car checked out thoroughly by a reputed mechanic, before you buy it. Especially for performance oriented vehicles. | |||||

| Answer to: HYUNDAI TIBURON GT V6 (2006) | 12Relevance | 5 years ago | HillBilly | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Ya might be looking at a grand for AC if you need ac. With that said, I wouldn't pay that for it here in Texas. However, location determines price a lot so it may be a good deal. Note my sigy...I suspect more issues on a 2006 is why I mention it. | |||||

| The new ones definitely are better but still not even close to Japanese ones. The old Kia and Hyundai are junk. | |||||

| The reason why Scotty rarely talks about them is because they’re piles of junk. Hyundai & Korean cars in general are all show & no go. The one you’re looking at is at the end of its useful life. I don’t think it’s a good idea unless you’re getting it for free. | |||||

| @jaylenriggs12The owner might tell you anything - he's trying to sell it! Would be nice to know how old the timing belts are. I think they're called for replacement at 60K miles on Hyundais of that vintage, and I'm pretty sure those are interference engines. If that belt drives the water pump you'll want to know how old that is as well. Best to have a mechanic or at least someone familiar with cars take a look at it, check for error codes with a scan tool. It's an inexpensive car not going to be for daily use but there's still no sense spending $1500 on an old high-mileage Hyundai if it winds up needed thousands of dollars in repairs right off the bat. Probably a good throwaway vehicle for learning stick shift if no major problems with it. (I learned to drive stick on a Corvair, but that was a lifetime ago in what seems like a different world.) | |||||

| it would only be for me to learn stick. It wouldn’t be a daily driver. And what do you think I should ask the owner ab the car before buying it? | |||||

| It's probably at or near the end of its expected service life, however if it was meticulously maintained it could have life left in it. $1500 doesn't buy much in a used car, so have it checked out and if OK you could get a couple of years out of it. I would not put any big money into repairs though. | |||||
