Help! I have a 2009 Ford F150 XLT automatic with 127,000 miles. It is making a rattling noise that no one can figure out. No warning lights or nothing just this noise! We have taken it multiple times to get fixed and mechanics say they fix it, but it still makes the noise. Please help us figure this out or if you could take a look at it-we’re in Clarksville retired 101st!! That would great!!!!
Hi LugoFam. I have a 2008 f150. You do not mention the motor you have in your truck. Is it a 5.4l 3v triton engine!
These were probably one of the worst motors ford built. If you have taken care of it... oil change, etc. My engine did or does the same thing. The rattle feels like the motor is going to fall apart or explode! I changed out both vct solinoids. The ones under the valve covers in the front. When they made the 2008 models they made the hole smaller so you have to take the valve covers off to replace. If the rattle is as i described it is the vct solenoids. The rattleing is caused from the vct solenoids sticking when the engine is idling down right! I have seen a few videos on youtube about this. Hope this helped.
P.S. All the problems with this motor are due to the oil ports not being big enough and not enough oil getting to the top of the motor. The only fix to this motor is to replace it or just keep replacing parts as they fail. Timing chain, timing phasers,
Great I check them out free here in Clarksville just email Scottykilmer@gmail.com and we could set up a time next week I could check it out for you I love a challenge
